Community Extension Activities

Activities of the year 2005 - 06

  • Computer courses - AITECH the computer wing is successfully running many computer courses. The whole range of computer programmes benefits both the students and neighborhood community.

  • Fashion Designing Courses - In connection with department of Fashion Technology we are having short term courses in Fashion Designing.

  • Spoken English classes - In association with the department of English during the academic year we were running level- I and II spoken English classes for the students of Assumption College.

  • Soft skill Development - To equip the students to become professionals and enable them to choose careers that suit their aptitude soft skill development classes were conducted for the degree and PG Students of Assumption College.

  • Financial Accounting - In association with the Department of commerce we are conducting 60 hr crash course on financial accounting for students and outsiders seeking admission to professional courses.

Free Wheel Chair Distribution

In March 2005 APACC has distributed 50 wheel chairs in association with the Chrysalis India Charitable Trust. The second wheel chair distribution was conducted in association with the Rotary club and Chrysalis India Charitable Trust on 20 October 2005.

Skill Development Programme

As part of our teaching out to the community we are actively encaged in skill enhancing scheme for the autorikshaw drivers of madumoola. They are regularly getting trained at the college in communicative skills in English. The Director participated in the annual day celebration of the Association of autorikshaw drivers.

Need Analysis and Awareness Programme

As a community college APACC take care in analyzing the needs of the immediate community. For assessing the needs of the community, APACC held in both personal and group meeting with prominent personalities in the field. The aims of these meeting were to introduce the concept of community college and how APACC can act as a link for the development of the community. The important meetings are:

  • Souhruda sangamam - meeting with the newly elected Local body members.
  • Socio-cultural meet - meeting with various bank managers, clubs and leaders of other socio-cultural organizations.
  • Meeting of panchayath presidents and members- more than 20 delegates from vazhappally panchayath attended.

Fruit processing Incubators

Fruit processing Incubators managed by the Department of Home science was launched in association with community college, APACC and the Directorate of industries and commerce, Govt. of Kerala on 25 November 2005.

Mushroom Training Programmes

The Mushroom Centre managed by the Department of Botany is quite successfully spearheading the nutritional campaign through Mushroom production.

Vacation classes

APACC conducted several vacation courses for the students and housewives of the neighboring community. The courses included in Training Personality Development, public speaking, communication skills in English, basic computer, computer fundamentals, spoken English & soft skill Development, certificate course in surface embroidery, and Dyeing and printing techniques and financial Accounting and computer skills were  also conducted.
